Bonds Winding Up?
After climbing in May on the backs of the big risk market Euro fueled selloff, US 30 Year Bonds have spent most of June trading in a narrow range. It may just be a fizzle, but we’re hoping it’s the windup for a much bigger move we’ve been awaiting for a long time.
Giving Alternatives a Bad Name
People sometimes balk at the term “alternative investments” because to them, it can sound a little scary. “Alternatives” seems to bring to mind something bizarre or untested. We do what we can to combat this perception, but the financial media tends to make ours an uphill battle.

Can’t Do That Here
Being NFA and CFTC registered, we are heavily regulated in terms of what we can say to the public. Specifically, there is no implying futures trading is suitable for everyone, only talking about winning when the possibility of loss is ever present, or making exorbitant claims which can’t be backed by solid proof. This got us to thinking, what if the rest of the world was held to the same standard?

The performance data for various Commodity Trading Advisor (“CTA”) and Commodity Pools are compiled from various sources, including Barclay Hedge, RCM’s own estimates of performance based on account managed by advisors on its books, and reports directly from the advisors. These performance figures should not be relied on independent of the individual advisor’s disclosure document, which has important information regarding the method of calculation used, whether or not the performance includes proprietary results, and other important footnotes on the advisor’s track record.
The mention of general asset class performance (i.e. managed futures did well, stocks were down, bonds were up) is based on RCM’s direct experience in those asset classes, estimates of performance of dozens of CTAs followed by RCM, and averaging of various indices designed to track said asset classes.
The mention of market based performance (i.e. Corn was up 5% today) reflects all available information as of the time and date of the publication.
